1. Protection from disease - Harmful microorganisms live in high-humidity environments and damage the surfaces they reach. Not properly extracted and prevented, they can cause various health risks such as allergies, skin irritation, respiratory illnesses, and immune-related diseases. Another dangerous group that poses health risks is mosquitoes. They also thrive in moist places. They can infect people with nasty diseases like dengue fever or malaria. Fortunately, a dehumidifier helps prevent their growth and harmful effects.
2. Cost-effective: Buying a dehumidifier is one of the best investments a person can make. It's designed to function optimally and is energy-saving. Plus, it can prevent damage caused by excessive moisture in the long run.

4. Protecting property from damage - The place will be inhospitable to harmful microorganisms that could attack your valuables.
5. Priority safety by preventing structural problems - can primarily prevent accidents if you have a dehumidifier at home that prevents excess moisture from weakening the structure and foundation of your home.
6. Pleasant workplace - It's been proven that a workplace is positively affected by fresh air to breathe. When you provide perfect ventilation, your employees will be optimally productive and benefit from each other's motivated work ethic.

Proper Use and Maintenance

Every dehumidifier needs proper usage and maintenance to support its long-lasting capability. Here are some safety tips for using and maintaining it:
· Before using it, keep it steady in an upright position for about 30 minutes to allow the refrigerant and other internal components to settle
· If the unit is newly delivered, let it settle for about 12 hours before using it
· Make sure that your desired area is well-sealed by either shutting all windows, vents or using other barriers
· It must be connected to a grounded electric source to avoid accidents and damage
· Make sure you have the right power supply to avoid electrical issues
· It is not suggestible to use an extension cord as well as a power adaptor
· Use the control panel or remote to set your desired level of humidity
· The surface in which it is set to operate must be leveled and steady
· Do not position the discharge and inlet onto a wall
· Never tamper with the internal components while the unit is running
· Always maintain a 6ft. distance from any form of obstruction
· Avoid deploying it in areas with a high amount of corrosive materials
· Make sure to properly unplug it before deploying it to another area
· Never leave it plugged when not in use
· When cleaning, use a damp cloth dipped in mild soap solution in wiping its exterior
· Remember to check the inlet and outlet for any blockages
· Annually check up the coils for maintenance
· You may use a foaming coil cleaner for cleaning the coils
· Confirm that the cords are cleaned from any debris and are properly wrapped and secured for storage
· Make sure to properly dry it before storing
· If the unit gets flooded, make sure you completely let it dry by carefully opening it before attempting to reconnect it
· Seek professional help for other complex issues
· Never use the unit as a support or stepping stool when reaching high items

Make sure to read the manual and all other guides before using your dehumidifier, or any product for that matter. It is always better to be equipped with all essential information beforehand to reduce the risk of accidents and mishaps.

Works very nicely in my Basement

From the Amazon

By 'Mark Smith', Reviewed on July 19, 2023
I bought 2 units. One for a modern home basement and the other an old farmhouse that is very damp. Each basement is over 1000 sq. ft. The newer home with a good drainage system was moderately damp with no water problem per se. The unit brought it down from 67% to 50% in about 4 days. What a noticeable difference. It does warm up the basement because it runs a lot. Not much water comes out at 50% so I turned up to 54% to keep it a little cooler. In the 1840 farmhouse the humidity was in the low 80%. It is been running nonstop for almost 3 weeks and still pulling the water out. It does not go lower than 63%. We have had lots of rain and the basement is not well drained so I think it is at equilibrium. The basement is long, and I plan to get a 2nd unit. I am very happy with the performance with each of them. There are doing a great job!
IT REALLY WORKS!!!

The basement in our newly built home got damp due to heavy seasonal rains. We tried everything before using the Alorair Sentinel HD55S. Wow! It did the job. The dehumidifier collects up to a gallon of water every 6 hours and keeps the area dry. The controls are easy to set and operate. The machine is well built and is at a good price point compared to similar units. I enthusiastically recommend the unit for home or commercial use.
Keeps the basement dry

This is an excellent unit if you have an old stone walled basement. My Stone Farmhouse basement is naturally always damp due to the construction with mortar and stone and this unit keeps the 1600 sq. ft. dry and comfortable.
Great Customer Service

We bought this unit for our crawl space in SC. For the first few months, all seemed well and we were very pleased with the performance of the unit but something changed about 6 mos in. The unit started freezing over. Customer service was very helpful and responsive. They checked the basics - level install, drain pipe clear & up from drain, clean filters, etc. But no luck. They sent a replacement part but that didnot work. Each time of froze over you had to let it the for a couple of days since it was winter. They are now sending us a replacement unit. I will update the review of this problem is a trend but I think it will all go well and in appreciate the way the company backs their product. Refreshing these days.

Effective but filters are expensive

From the Amazon

By 'Digital Denizen', Reviewed on February 24, 2023
Uses 348 watts while running normally and 135kWh a month. Company nearly doubled price of filters after I purchased so I will be finding a cheaper 3rd party supplier. Should have been a washable filter. Slung my unit from floor joists in crawlspace to get drop for gravity drainage. If using a condensate pump get one that can cut power to dehumidifier if pump fails to avoid flooding. Can hear and feel faint vibrations on patch of floor just above but only barefoot standing still.
Well made and practical

The unit comes well packaged, a box within a box - so little chance of getting damaged. The instructions say to wait 2 hours it unit may not have remained straight, but I would recommend waiting overnight, once you have the unit placed as you want. With this unit, I can place it in one of the utility rooms and duct it back to the main room. This allows us to enjoy the basement without having a dehumidifier running in it. Even though the unit is fairly quiet, it is even quieter when it is in the next room. And when we leave for extended times, we can just leave the utility door open.
This is a compact crawlspace dehumidifier
By 'Christy T', Reviewed on August 06, 2022
I was looking for a crawlspace dehumidifier and purchased one of these units. This is a compact, high-powered crawlspace dehumidifier, and it is doing the job just great. The construction of the unit is very strong, and every part seems to be very well-built. So far, so good I’m happy with this machine!
Works well!
By 'Michaelia', Reviewed on December 09, 2021
I purchased the amazon protection with this since it had so many reviews talking about how it broke after a year or two. I have only had it about two months but connected it to my crawlspace via the vent, and so far, it has taken the humidity down efficiently. I will install a couple of fans down there to see if I can get the better circulation of the dry air, but this is already a considerable improvement. It has not increased my power bill by any noticeable amount. On the plus side, the space you need is around the machine, not necessarily above or below it, so it's OK to fit in shorter crawl spaces and sit nicely on a shelf.
Good quality and value from the price
By 'Ethel', Reviewed on November 26, 2021
This is a well-built compact dehumidifier that is powerful enough to remove moisture from basements and crawl space. It ships with a MERV-8 filter. It is a piece of robust equipment, it works very well, and the energy consumption is not high. It is very well developed, and good quality and value from the price.

Hello, should the inlet be parallel to the wall or airflow parallel to the wall? It is in a crawlspace.

Hale on December 09, 2021

1 Answer

Answered by Alorair
No, neither the inlet/outlet should be parallel to the wall. The inlet should not be facing the wall. If it is facing the wall, it will not dehumidify efficiently.
