Best Dehumidifier
By 'KP', Reviewed on February 12, 2023
I bought this dehumidifier 2 years ago for a crawl space. It is the most capable and reliable humidifier. I have purchased or replaced many unreliable units in the past. The small size of the unit is another great benefit
Great!

I placed this in the crawlspace of our property as part of a moisture and mold mitigation project (in addition to replacing some rotted framing members and encapsulation). It's been in place for a year now and has been performing superbly. the space is bone dry, causing the mildewy smell to disappear from not only the crawlspace but the house as well. I couldn't be happier. also should mention, that the item arrived with a broken piece of trim. I contacted the company and they replaced it with no problem. good customer service.
Works great!

We bought this for our new construction. We had major issues while building and the basement took in a lot of water, so much so that mold grew. We rented a commercial unit for a couple of months during construction but decided we needed to just purchase one once the house was closed up. We had a humidity level of 86 percent, which dropped to the right level after a few days. My husband was very impressed with this unit!
A very wise investment

I have a decent-sized home with a 1500 sq ft finished basement and a garage built on a concrete slab of about 500 sq feet. The concrete in these areas and the basement below ground level create a substantial moisture issue. I have run two dehumidifiers Simultaneously in the past in my basement alone. In comparing the performance, the sentinel amazed me by pulling more moisture in a shorter amount of time and running less often. I will also save on electricity by running one vs. two simultaneously. My mother-in-law lives in our basement, and she is pleasantly surprised with how quiet it runs. I’m very satisfied with the product. The sentinel is lightweight and easy to carry/move. It has a very nice drain hose and easy to-remove / clean filter. One other side note- I’ve had a dehumidifier and other mail packages arrive to me In the past damaged - I highly doubt you will experience this with the sentinel as it is very well packaged. Overall very impressed.
Perfect and is exactly what we needed
By 'Spring John', Reviewed on December 30, 2021
Installed this unit under my mother's house after finding moisture under her house. This unit and some dirt work have taken a typically hot swampy area into a dry, hot area in a very short amount of time. Perfect and is exactly what we needed. I'll be thinking about installing these in the future in my other houses.
A very wise investment!

This dehumidifier puts all those upright residential units to shame. And for what it does, it's not that noisy, but don't expect 'quiet operation' - it's not that kind of equipment - it's meant to do work! My basement will never be damp ever again. Currently, it's emptying into my sump well, and there is almost a continuous flow of water. Thank you!
Gets the job done!

Great dehumidifier. It works excellent without much setup time. Unpack, level, hook up the drain line, power on, and set your desired humidity level. DONE. I really can't believe the manufacture is giving 5-year warranty. Unheard of with most products anymore.
Amazingly efficient dehumidifier!
By 'Parker', Reviewed on December 28, 2021
This unit is heavy-duty, well-made, and commercial grade. We purchased it for a damp basement. And we love how effective and efficient this dehumidifier is. We can't believe the air quality now that it is going in our basement. We are storing things that might get damaged from moisture in the air, which has helped prevent that. And I genuinely recommend this unit.
Faithfully chugs along all day long sucking the moisture out of the basement
By 'Cynthia', Reviewed on December 28, 2021
We've had this unit running for going on 7 weeks now. It's positioned near and above a sink in the finished basement. Despite incredible humidity during this time (it's Virginia in summer, what can I say!), the AlorAir has been reliably coming on and pulling the moisture out of the air whenever the humidity climbs above the 55% that I have it set to. The hose is positioned so it gravity feed from the back of the unit into the sink's base, and occasionally I'll take a look, and sure enough, you can see it draining water while it's running. The air is more pleasant than we experienced when we first looked at the home, so that I can attest to the functionality. I have not yet tried hooking up the separate remote sensor and control unit (I haven't even purchased it yet), so I can't speak to the effectiveness of that system. I also haven't yet been able to judge how much of an extra power draw this is, although we feel it won't be too bad. If it's egregious, I'll update the review later. All in all, I can highly recommend the Sentinel 55.
Satisfied!
By 'Alice', Reviewed on December 27, 2021
I have only had it for about 2 months but connected it to my crawlspace via the vent, and so far, it has taken the humidity down from the 90+% range to the 60-70% range. I will install a couple of fans down there to see if I can get the better circulation of the dry air, but this is already a considerable improvement and a way cheaper price than the $3-5K that a professional company wanted to charge for dealing with the issue. It has not increased my power bill by any noticeable amount. Not suitable for small spaces, once you attach a vent/drain and leave sufficient space around the machine intake, you need several feet of room for this. On the plus side, the area you need is around the machine, not necessarily above or below it, so it's ok to fit in shorter crawl spaces and sit nicely on a shelf.
