HDi65S - Conditioning Adjacent Space

Back to List

I would like to keep the unit in one room and condition an adjacent room. The exhaust seems straight forward but I'm curious on the filter intake side, how to connect that to the conditioned space?

Am I understanding the dehumidifying process correctly? Humid air goes through filter intake side, the unit removes the humidity and exhuasts through the exhuast side?

Wouldn't I want the intake to also be connected to the conditioned room?

Thank you!

Dear James Feiner,

Thank you for your follow-up.

I would like to clarify and correct a point from my previous response regarding the HDi65S dehumidifier. Upon double-checking the product specifications, I realize that the HDi65S is designed with only an exhaust (supply) duct port, and does not have a dedicated intake duct port. I apologize for any confusion this may have caused.

For your application—dehumidifying an adjacent room (Room B) while the unit is placed in another room (Room A)—the recommended approach is to:

Install a supply duct from the exhaust port of the dehumidifier to direct dry air into Room B.

Allow the unit to passively draw moist air from Room A (where it is located) through its built-in intake.

This setup will still allow the unit to effectively manage humidity in Room B by creating positive air pressure with dry air, while pulling air naturally from its immediate surroundings.

Regarding the ducting product, you can find it at the link below:

Please note that this item is currently out of stock, but we expect it to be available again in about a week.

Again, I apologize for the earlier misunderstanding. Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions.

Best regards,
The AlorAir Team

Thanks for the response. Regarding the intake, is there a product for the ducting that I can buy or is it a custom product to have an intake duct made? The manual only focuses on the supply duct but no mention of intake duct.

Dear James Feiner,

Thank you for contacting AlorAir. Your question is highly professional, and your understanding of how the dehumidifier works is completely accurate.

Yes, to effectively dehumidify the adjacent room (your target space), it is essential to have the dehumidifier draw moist air from that room and exhaust the dried air back into the same room, creating a closed airflow cycle.

For your HDi65S model, the standard approach to achieve this is to connect both the intake duct and the exhaust duct:

  • Intake Side Connection: You need to install an intake duct from Room B to the dehumidifier’s intake port. This allows the unit to draw humid air from the target room.

  • Exhaust Side Connection: Similarly, install a supply duct from the dehumidifier’s exhaust port back to Room B. This returns the dried air efficiently to the target space.

Regarding the filter: There’s no need to worry. The filter is located inside or at the front of the unit’s intake. As long as the intake duct is properly connected to the corresponding air port, dust and particles will be captured by the filter before entering the unit.

In short, the most effective installation method is:
Room A (Humid) → [Intake Duct] → HDi65S Dehumidifier (Dehumidifying) → [Supply Duct] → Room A (Dry)

This way, the dehumidifier can continuously cycle and dehumidify the air in Room A, even if the unit itself is installed in a different room.

Our product user manual includes instructions for duct installation for your reference. Should you have any further questions, please let us know. We are more than happy to provide additional assistance.

The AlorAir Team
