How do I know if it's working properly? i.e. it runs but no change in humidity.

Back to List

I have a Sentinel HDi90 that's been working flawlessly for many years. This spring, I noticed that the humidity doesn't drop below 73% when set at 63% despite the unit running 24/7. My bluetooth humidity monitor shows maybe +/-2% humidity change over 24 hours. The crawlspace has no water, not even under the vapor barrier. Outdoor humidity is around 60%. I've attached a picture of the control panel. Where do I go from here?

Hi Rob, Could you please tell us the dehumidification capacity of the machine in 1 hour and the current ambient temperature? This will help us analyze whether the machine is working properly.

I was only able to do a measurement in a 6 hour period. In that case with the ambient temperature of 68F, I only drained slightly more than 6 oz of water. So I imagine the current dehumidification capacity is 1 oz / hr.

Hi Rob,We are sorry, based on your description, we think the machine cannot work properly because of refrigerant leakage. However, the US standard machine does not have a refrigerant filling valve, so you cannot add refrigerant by yourself. We recommend that you find a professional engineer to add refrigerant.
