Remote Control Not Powering On

Hello I recently installed a hd55s in my crawlspace and wired the remote on a wall inside the house. Everytime I press the power button the water drop symbol will show up and then disappear. When I unplug the wire to the unit, the unit will kick on when I press the power on the unit.
